A Note About Student Workers

Use of student workers expanded to include front desk, with caveats in place.

Student workers were previously prohibited from working in roles that included face-to-face encounters with clients, which limited using them at the front desk and/or check-in. In 2023, the standard regarding student workers was amended to allow front desk duties but with protocols in place for client privacy and confidentiality.

Standard IV.F.2. now states: "Student workers employed in the center must be assigned tasks limited to their training. They cannot provide the majority of administrative support and must be trained the same as other administrative support. They may have access to demographic and appointment-based information as is necessary for appointment scheduling, but they must not have access to clinical documentation and/or personnel records. Typical duties do not involve direct contact with client students, such as support for outreach program, photocopying educational or research materials, and performing inventory of library resources."
